Fabrics & Care
Good care keeps a piece looking the way it did on the day it arrived. This guide explains the fabrics you will find across DELSARI and how to look after them.
Every product page lists the composition of that piece under Composition & Care. Where the garment label gives different instructions, always follow the label.
Reading a composition label
Fibres are listed from the largest share to the smallest. A coat marked "70% wool, 30% polyamide", for example, takes its warmth and handle from the wool and gains strength and shape from the polyamide. Blends are designed on purpose: they often wear better, crease less and are easier to care for than a single fibre.
Wool and wool blends
Naturally warm, breathable and resistant to creasing. Brush coats and jackets after wear with a soft clothes brush, let them rest on a shaped hanger between wears, and spot-clean small marks with a damp cloth. Dry clean structured coats and tailoring rather than washing them.
Cashmere, alpaca and fine knits
Soft, light and warm, these fibres reward gentle handling. Hand wash in cool water with a wool detergent or use a wool cycle, press out the water in a towel without wringing, and dry flat away from direct heat. Fold knitwear rather than hanging it, and remove any pilling with a fabric comb.
Viscose, modal and satin finishes
Fluid, smooth and beautiful in movement — the drape behind many of our dresses and blouses. Wash cool on a delicate cycle or by hand, avoid wringing, and reshape while damp. Iron on a low setting on the reverse, or use a steamer. Satin finishes are best ironed through a pressing cloth.
Cotton and linen
Crisp, breathable and easy to live with. Wash at the temperature on the label with similar colours, and dry naturally where possible to limit shrinkage. Linen creases by nature; a light steam restores its line.
Polyester, polyamide and elastane
Hard-wearing and quick to dry, these fibres add structure, stretch and recovery. Wash cool, avoid high heat in the dryer and iron on a low setting. Garments with elastane keep their shape best when dried flat or on a hanger.
Leather, faux leather and suede finishes
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth and keep away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight. Store bags stuffed with tissue in a dust bag to hold their shape. Treat suede finishes with a suede brush and protect them from rain.
Storing your pieces
- Hang coats, tailoring and dresses on wide, shaped hangers; fold knitwear.
- Give clothes room to breathe and keep them out of plastic covers for long periods.
- Store seasonal pieces clean, as moths are drawn to worn fibres.
- Keep shoes and bags in their dust bags or boxes, away from damp.
